[00:00:00] Kimberly Weitkamp: What does that mean? Being 30% more courageous? How does that show up in people’s lives and business?
[00:00:07] David Wood: We tend to regret more the things that we didn’t do than the things that we did. And I do believe that 20 years from now, I will more regret not taking action and letting fear run me. And I found this out as a kid.
[00:00:24] David Wood: Because I, I just almost never stood up to bullies. Bullies would push me around and, and I just, I just take it and I backed down every time. And I regret to this day that I didn’t just at least once punch a bully on the nose and take a beating. Right. How, how bad could it have been really? And I would have felt better about myself.
[00:00:48] David Wood: And so I. And judge everything today based on will I regret not fully going for it. And this applies to business as well as relationships. So in your business, what you want to do is find your way. And ride your edge. You don’t have to go crazy. I’m not talking about like, like I’ve jumped off a mountain in Nepal with a paraglider strapped to my back and gone up.
[00:01:16] David Wood: Like, I’m not saying you have to do that, or even walk across hot coals with Tony Robbins and stuff like that. But you want to find where is your edge? Maybe there are 10 prospective clients you could call up and say, I got a really good thing going here. And I wanted to see if you’re interested in it. If you’ve got five minutes or maybe it’s a celebrity endorsement.
[00:01:38] David Wood: I remember I was pretty damn nervous asking Richard Branson to write the foreword to my book and asking Jack Canfield and approaching Steve Wynn from the wind hotels. That was scary for me, but with my heart pounding in my chest, I did it. I asked all three of them. One of them said yes. So I want you to, here’s a great exercise.
[00:02:01] David Wood: Get a piece of paper and a pen and just write at the top. What would I do in my business if I had no fear and then you can do another sheet of paper, what would I do in my life if I had no fear? And once you’ve got that list, The reason I want you to do that is just a workout where your edge is like workout.
[00:02:25] David Wood: What would be scary for you? It might be having an honest conversation with your business partner about something you don’t like. It might be making a request of your partner in your life. Hey, when you do that thing, I feel really uncomfortable. And I’m wondering if you’d be open to stopping it, find out where your edge is.
[00:02:44] David Wood: You don’t have to go and do everything on the list, but you might want to circle one or two of them this week. Maybe a couple of the easier ones, screw up your courage. Go for it. I find nine out of 10 times, I feel better for the fact that I went for it. I don’t even need it yet. I don’t need to get the result.
[00:03:05] David Wood: It’s about being fully expressed in your life and your work. And as a bonus, you may find that you get some really wonderful results.
