Life Lessons From My Paragliding Accident

I used to be a consulting actuary, assessing risk for big companies.

Circumstances don’t give us our experience. Our attitude gives us our experience

Now I assess risk for people’s lives, and I’ve decided most people could stand to be a bit riskier emotionally. (And less risky physically!)

Now, there are some risks that are just plain dumb. But I’m more worried about people taking risks, and not even being aware of what they are risking.

In this clip from my interview on the Evolve Podcast, I talk about:

  • How pivotal moments changed the way I live
  • The power of choosing our experience
  • Why we need to assess the risks of everything we do
  • How to make a conscious choice
  • We need to assess the risk involved with our actions
  • Assess the risk of your tough conversations
  • What REALLY pisses me off
  • Why I’m no longer willing to risk death and paralysis
  • The danger of stupid risks, and my two favorite examples

Most people are too conservative with emotional risk, and too reckless with physical risk.

I’m all for playing a bigger game in life, but I’m not an advocate for blindly putting yourself, your job or relationship in danger.

Take a listen and let me know in the comments below if you’ve unknowingly risked more than you’d intended. Or – if there’s something you’re no longer willing to risk. (I share mine in this clip!)
